That $60 pH meter gave me garbage readings for a month
Picked up a cheap digital pH meter off Amazon for around 60 bucks to track my kombucha batches. Turns out the calibration buffer was off, so every reading was 0.8 too high. First batch that went through tasted like battery acid, second one barely fermented. Anyone else trust their meter without testing it against strips first?

Heard that about the TDS meter and actually gasped, those poor fish never stood a chance. You would think something that costs 60 bucks would at least be accurate out of the box, but I guess the real test is learning the hard way. Makes me want to double check every gadget I own with a plain old strip before trusting it again.

Learned that one the hard way with a cheap TDS meter for my aquariums... turns out my "perfect" water was basically soup. At least your kombucha got a story out of it, mine just got sad fish.
