A friend in Portland said I was leaving money on the table, now I price differently

Tbh, I was charging $15 an hour for my first freelance writing gigs because I thought that was fair. My buddy who does SEO in Portland told me straight up, 'You're not selling hours, you're selling results,' and that hit different. He showed me how a $500 flat fee for a blog post package could take me 6 hours but still double my old rate. Has anyone else had that moment where someone forced you to value your work more?

And it's wild how that same trap shows up everywhere, not just freelancing. People price their time at whatever feels "fair" even when the actual value they bring is way bigger, like the mechanic who charges $50 but saves you a $2,000 repair. Once you see it, you can't unsee it, and honestly it changes how you look at everything you do.
