My first client told me my $25 logo was 'too cheap to be good'

I was so scared to ask for more back in 2021 that I priced myself at basically nothing. That comment made me realize my low price was making people doubt my work, so I switched to project rates. Has anyone else had a client talk them *into* raising their prices?

My buddy who does web design had a client tell him his quote was "suspiciously low" and asked if he was new. That actually made him stop and redo his whole pricing sheet. He doubled his rates for the next project and the client just paid it, no questions.

Sounds like they just wanted a discount.

Used to think that too, but honestly that story about the web designer really hit home for me. Sometimes a low price makes people question your skill, like they're worried they'll get bad work. Doubling his rate basically proved he knew what he was doing, which is wild. Makes you realize some clients just want to feel sure they're getting something good, not just cheap.
