The 11 weeks I lost waiting on a survey for a house in Roanoke
When we put an offer on our first house in Roanoke, I figured the survey would take a week or two. It took 11 weeks. The first guy quit and never called us, the second company lost our paperwork, and the third one finally showed up in August. We almost lost our rate lock and had to pay $400 to extend it. Has anyone else had a survey drag on that long, or was ours just bad luck?
My sister waited 14 weeks on a survey in Blacksburg last year so you're not alone. What finally worked for her was calling the county surveyor's office and asking who they use for their own work. That gave her a short list of people who actually show up. She had a new guy out in 9 days after that. The other thing she did was send a certified letter to the second company so there was a paper trail when they tried to blame her for the delay. Got $250 back from them too. Next time skip the internet search and go straight to the county office, they know who's reliable.
