Picked a 14 inch pull bar over the little 8 inch one for a stair nose in Columbus, never going back
Wrapped up a stair nose job in Columbus a few weeks back and my 8 inch pull bar kept slipping every time I got close to the wall. Grabbed a 14 inch one off the truck just to try it and the extra reach let me get my whole weight into the pull without smacking my knuckles. Did the whole run of 12 treads in about half the time it usually takes me. Felt dumb for not switching sooner after 9 years of fighting the short one. Anyone got a length they swear by for tight stair work?
Oh man, I made that same switch a couple years back and it was a game changer (wish I'd done it way sooner too). Longer bar just gives you so much more control when you're jammed up against a wall. I keep a 14 in the truck now for stairs and only grab the short one for little stuff.
