TIL a subfloor noise solution that sparked a debate on job time

On my last laminate job, the subfloor creaked like crazy. Some crews say to lay over it and move on, saving time. I argue that ignoring it risks customer complaints and redoes. I crawled under and used screws to secure the joists, which killed the noise. Do you tackle every squeak or only the bad ones?

How many callbacks do those "move on" crews actually get? Fixing it right the first time might take longer, but it builds a reputation that brings more work later. A quiet floor is a finished job, and skipping steps just passes the headache to the homeowner. That shortcut thinking is what gives trades a bad name, because eventually someone has to deal with the noise.

Always fix every squeak you hear. It's worth the extra hour to avoid callbacks, like @oscar_morgan22 learned the hard way. A quiet floor is the only kind that's actually done.

Tell me about it, I've chased squeaks that weren't even there.

One missed squeak on a Denver job cost me a whole weekend. Now I'm under every floor like a paranoid detective, lol.
