I finally figured out why my ladle keeps cracking at the weld line

Last Tuesday I had a ladle fail mid-pour on a 300 lb run, and when I ground it down I saw the weld was cold and full of pin holes from rushing the preheat. I've been running the torch over it for 3 extra minutes before welding now, has anyone else dealt with this on their own ladle repairs?

That preheat time is HUGE, most guys I know rush it too.
