Hurt my wrist and saw my freelance contract had no plan for injury
I sprained my wrist badly from working too much. My contract did not cover what happens if I get hurt. This meant no pay and a tough talk with the person hiring me. Now I make sure to add clear terms for health issues. What steps do you take in your contracts for things like this?

Guess you found out the hard way contracts need a "what if I break" clause. Bet you won't skip that part again.

Learn from pain... skip nothing.

Actually, jana_anderson59 is right about learning the hard way (and boring contract clauses are the worst teachers). Always list specific penalties for things like late payment, so nobody is guessing. That way both sides know what happens if things go wrong, which is the whole point of being fair.

Contracts can really mess you up without that clause. What specific things should it cover? Like, if a payment is late or a job isn't done right? Is there a basic template people follow, or does every contract need its own list? I've seen some that only help one person. How do you write it so both sides are treated fairly?
