Switched from QuickBooks to a spreadsheet for 3 months and my quarterly tax prep just took 20 minutes instead of 3 hours

I know everyone says use accounting software but honestly tracking every expense in QuickBooks was eating my time. Spreadsheet with simple categories cost me zero dollars. Has anyone else gone backwards and saved more?

Oh come on, you're acting like 20 minutes versus 3 hours is some huge life changing thing. That's barely a couple of hours over three months. If you actually have a real business with real numbers and real tax obligations then a spreadsheet is gonna bite you hard when you miss a deduction or get audited. QuickBooks saves you from that headache plus it's not that hard to learn. You're basically saying you saved $50 and an hour of time but risked screwing up your taxes. That's not smart, that's just cheap. And if your quarterly tax prep only took 20 minutes in a spreadsheet then you probably don't have enough transactions to even worry about anyway.
