Appreciation post: the client who pays on time without reminders

Just wrapped a small project for a guy in Portland. Sent the invoice Thursday morning. Money was in my account Friday afternoon. No follow up emails. No "can you send that again?" No waiting 45 days. I almost forgot that was possible. Why is this so rare? Anyone else have clients that actually respect your time like this?

My friend had a small design job for a baker in Austin. Sent the invoice and got paid before she even finished her coffee the next morning.

Whoa, hold up! Austin is way too far from the ocean for her to have coffee the next morning.

You know, your friend's story reminds me of this time I hired a local guy to do some landscaping work in my backyard. We agreed on a price, he did a real nice job, and I handed him cash that same afternoon before he even packed up his tools. It’s funny how some people just have that kind of trust built into their business relationships, especially with small jobs like that. I figure it helps when both parties are straight shooters from the start - no games, no waiting around. Makes you wonder if the baker just had a good gut feeling about your friend's work.
