Hit 200 client invoices this year and honestly I have no idea how I'm still upright
I was just tallying up my freelance income for a tax estimate and realized I sent out my 200th invoice yesterday without even noticing, which is wild because in my tiny home office (a corner of my bedroom in Austin) I feel like I'm just barely keeping it together between the coffee spills and the cat walking across my keyboard, but 200 invoices means at least somebody out there is paying me to do this, right?

It's funny how those invisible milestones sneak up on you while you're busy just trying to survive the day to day. Makes you wonder how many other small victories we completely miss because we're too focused on the mess in front of us.

Oh man, there's something else to this too. Those small victories we miss are the ones that actually give us the foundation to survive the big messes in the first place, like how you don't notice your immune system working until you're the only one who didn't get sick. It's almost like we're wired to only pay attention to what's broken or loud, and the quiet stuff that's going right just gets treated as background noise. I wonder how much clearer our view of the day would be if we could train ourselves to spot those wins as they happen instead of only seeing them in hindsight.

That line about "small victories we completely miss" really hit me. It's like when you clean out your car and find a receipt from six months ago and realize you've driven like 15,000 miles without a breakdown. I've been noticing this pattern everywhere lately, like how my phone automatically backs up my photos every night and I never think about it until I need to find a picture from last summer. The same thing happens with habits too, you don't notice you've been flossing for 60 days straight until you check the calendar. We just kind of grind through the fog and suddenly these numbers add up.
