Just realized my 'ergonomic' chair was causing my back pain because the seat pan was too deep

Measured it and there was a 3-inch gap between the seat edge and the back of my knees, which messed up my posture all day. Has anyone else found a good fix for this without buying a whole new chair?

Oh man, I had that exact same problem. I just folded up a firm pillow and put it behind my lower back for support, it filled the gap and helped a ton.

My old office chair had a 4-inch gap and I used to just slouch into it. Honestly, I tried a rolled up towel for a while but it kept sliding around. Then I found a cheap memory foam lumbar cushion with straps that attach to the chair back, and it completely fixed the seat depth for me. Took me way too long to realize a simple cushion could make that big of a difference.

Straps are a total game changer for keeping cushions in place.
