Pro tip: I moved my desk away from the window to reduce glare and my focus improved a ton.

I was getting distracted by street noise and sunlight, but facing a blank wall for a month cut my daily interruptions in half. Has anyone else found a simple layout change that made a big difference?

Swapped my desk to face a plain wall last year and it was a game changer. I used to watch birds and cars all day, but now I just get straight into my work. The lack of anything to look at really forces my brain to focus on the screen.

Facing a blank wall" sounded so depressing to me, I always wanted the view. But you're right, the quiet is actually way better for getting things done. I moved my couch to face a bookshelf instead of the TV and it's the same kind of calm.

Laura's onto something with the bookshelf swap. Blank walls get a bad rap. I put my reading chair in a corner facing away from the room and it's like a different space. The quiet just lets your brain settle. Sometimes the best view is no view at all.
