Vent: That coworking space tour changed my whole setup
I was at a tour of a new coworking place downtown last Tuesday, and the owner pointed out how everyone there uses two monitors, even for basic stuff. He said, 'Your neck shouldn't bend toward a laptop all day.' That made me rethink my whole home workspace. So I grabbed a cheap second monitor off Facebook Marketplace for $40, and honestly my posture feels way better already. Has anyone else had a random tour or visit change how they work from home?

Honestly, I gotta push back on the whole "your neck shouldn't bend toward a laptop" thing. I've been working from a single laptop for two years now and my neck feels fine, no issues. A $40 monitor sounds like a deal but it's not gonna fix bad posture on its own, you know? Most people I know who have two monitors end up with their neck craned anyway, just in a different direction. Tbh half the time they're just checking email on one and watching YouTube on the other, which doesn't really help your posture either.

Wait, you've been using just a laptop screen for two full years and your neck is actually fine? Like no stiffness or anything? lmao I feel like you might be some kind of freak of nature or something, everyone I know who does that ends up hunched over like a question mark after a few months.

Are you actually craning your neck down or just propping the laptop up on some books?
