Warning: Don't trust the WiFi in that cheap co-living spot in Medellin

I moved into a place in Laureles for $450 a month, the photos were great. First week, my video calls kept dropping every 10 minutes. Turns out they had one consumer router for 20 people. I had to buy my own portable hotspot and eat the data cost for the whole month. Anyone else get burned by a 'high speed internet' claim in a coliving spot?

Wait, wasn't it more like $450 USD? I think that's actually pretty standard for a nice spot in Laureles, but the router thing is def a huge red flag. I saw a place there that bragged about "enterprise grade wifi" and it was literally just a normal TP-Link router plugged into the wall with no password. The real issue is that most coliving places don't bother to set up a proper mesh system or even limit how many devices connect per person. You'd think for $450 they'd at least buy a second router or something.

Don't you think $450 is still way too much for a shared house with bad wifi?

@morganl71 Did they even mention what speed you're paying for?
