Vent: I tested two different screen protectors on my new phone for a month

I got a new phone in April and decided to be smart about it. I bought a cheap pack of three film protectors for about $8 and a single tempered glass one from a known brand for $25. The film ones felt rubbery right away and showed every fingerprint. After two weeks, the edges started peeling up from my pocket. The glass one, though, has been flawless. It feels just like the real screen, cleans easy, and I actually dropped the phone from my kitchen counter last week. The protector cracked, but the screen underneath is perfect. The difference in feel and real protection was huge. Has anyone else found that with screen protectors, you really do get what you pay for?

Honestly, it's a piece of glass on top of another piece of glass. I used a film one for years and it was fine. Never had a phone screen crack. The glass ones feel nicer, sure, but for twenty five bucks? That's half a tank of gas. Seems like a lot for something that might just be peace of mind.

Yeah but that film won't do much against a real drop, @henry150. The glass ones are made to take the hit and crack instead of your actual screen. Paying for the peace of mind is the whole point, isn't it?

But how often do you actually drop your phone? I'm with @henry150, it feels like buying insurance for something that probably won't happen.
