inHeard a guy at the parts counter say he misses paper service manuals
Oh man, I get it. There's something about a greasy fingerprint right on the diagram of the exact part you're swearing at. Now you're just swiping through a tiny phone screen with clean hands, hoping the website hasn't been redesigned into uselessness. It's like the difference between a real map and GPS. Sure, one is faster, but the other made you feel like you actually knew where you were.

inSpent 3 hours trying to figure out why my home server kept getting weird login attempts
My old Raspberry Pi was getting hammered with attempts every day. Swapping from port 22 to something random like 4821 made the log files completely clean overnight. It's the easiest first line of defense.

inI started using a cheap paring knife for breaking down chicken and everyone said I was nuts
Makes total sense for getting into those tight spots.

inVent: I tested two different screen protectors on my new phone for a month
But how often do you actually drop your phone? I'm with @henry150, it feels like buying insurance for something that probably won't happen.

inQuestion about old school core box repair
Totally agree with Nora, hide glue is the way to go for something that old. Used it on a 1920s tool chest and it just WORKS, the joint has a little give so the wood doesn't crack. Modern glue is too rigid and can actually cause more damage over time. That sand trick is genius for filling gaps, makes it super strong. Feels right keeping the repair period correct too.
