The $30 standing mat that saved my knees after one week

My wife kept telling me standing on concrete all day was wrecking my joints, but I ignored her until I tried her yoga mat under my desk. Big mistake lol. Has anyone else here had a partner's random tip actually fix a major home office issue?

That yoga mat sound like it was probably way too soft for standing all day. Did you notice your feet or lower back hurting more after a few hours on it? I found out real quick that too much cushion makes me rock side to side and puts weird pressure on my hips.

oh man @mitchell.avery you're so spot on with that "too much cushion makes me rock side to side" thing. i had this super thick mat once and after like an hour my hips were screaming, felt like i was on one of those wobbly balance boards. my feet were aching way worse than on a firmer surface too, it was like constantly trying to stabilize. never again, give me something thin and hard over a cloud every time.

Did you actually try the yoga mat on the concrete for more than a day? I did something similar with a cheap foam pad and it collapsed flat within a week, basically turned into a thin squishy layer that did nothing to help my knees. That kind of mat works way better on carpet where it has some support underneath.
