My client said my invoice was 'too complicated' and it made me rethink everything

She told me she didn't understand the breakdown of hours vs materials, so she just set it aside for two weeks. Now I'm changing my invoice to one flat number with no line items to see if it speeds things up. Has anyone else tried simplifying invoices to get paid faster?

Did you try just one big number with no breakdown at all? That's what I do now and folks pay way faster with no questions.

My last client balked at a $1,200 line item until I split it into three chunks, so I actually see it the opposite way @sean48. That breakdown showed them where the real work was and they paid without a single follow-up after that.

Man idk, you're making this sound like some big psychological warfare thing lol. It's really not that deep charging people for work.
