Lost my client's file right before a deadline in a Bangkok cafe

I was working from this small coffee shop in Bangkok last month when my laptop crashed mid-edit. I had a client presentation due at 5pm and realized the file was only saved locally. I spent 20 minutes trying to reboot and nothing worked. I ended up borrowing the barista's old Chromebook to email the client a rough draft. Anyone else had to rely on random hardware to save a gig?

The barista's Chromebook story is wild, but honestly that's a solid backup plan. Cloud saves are the only way to go with cafe work. I keep my stuff on Google Drive and Dropbox now because of a similar disaster with a power surge in a coworking space. You can actually set most programs to autosave to the cloud every few minutes. Also good idea to have a spare USB drive or an external hard drive in your bag for emergencies.

Wait, the barista just handed over their personal Chromebook to a total stranger? That's insane trust right there. I would have been too scared to even ask for something like that. So glad it worked out for you though.

nah but hold up, i gotta push back on this a bit. @craig.olivia you're making it sound like cloud saves are some foolproof solution but they're not always reliable when you're in a pinch. people hand over their personal laptops all the time in those small tight-knit coffee shop scenes, it's not that crazy when you think about the vibe there. plus the barista probably knew her regulars well enough to trust one of them. not everyone is out to scam you, y'know. i get being cautious but sometimes being too scared to ask for help just leaves you stuck with a dead situation.
