Spent $400 on a chip and PIN terminal that still won't process AmEx correctly
I bought a Poynt terminal from a reseller in Chicago six months ago and it keeps declining American Express cards with a generic error code, has anyone else run into this with third-party hardware?

Honestly, that sounds like a Poynt firmware issue more than anything else. And @kelly_rivera, throwing money at it usually just means buying a new terminal that has the same problem, so you're not wrong. AmEx has been real picky about how terminals handle their cards since they updated their auth codes last year. Your reseller probably sold you a unit that had old software or one that wasn't properly certified for AmEx. Tbh, you might wanna check if there's a firmware update available on their site before you shell out for another machine.
