I started paying attention to critic points after a heated film club argument.

Now I see how their views add depth to our group's movie nights.

Watched my buddy get torn apart in his book club for hating a prize winning novel. He came back next month armed with reviewer quotes about the book's structure, totally changed the talk. Sometimes you need that outside voice to point out what you missed. He still didn't like the book much, but the whole group got way deeper into why it worked.

Man, @hollyscott, your buddy's story hits home. I was just reading about how prize winning books often split readers, and critics can point out stuff we miss. Like, I remember this one time my own book club argued for hours over a novel nobody enjoyed, but then we read a review that talked about the writing style and it clicked. It didn't make us like the book more, but we all got why it worked for some people. Bringing in those outside takes turns a fight into a real talk, you know?

It's like that with sports teams and music too, really.

My film club fights were way dumber before I stole that move from @hollyscott's friend.
