Spent $200 on a high-end leather tool roll and it's collecting dust in my closet

I got this fancy leather tool roll from a maker in Austin last fall. Figured it would keep my carving chisels organized and look good on my bench. Instead I keep grabbing the old canvas pouch because the leather one is too stiff to get tools out fast. Has anyone else dropped cash on a hobby organizer that just made things harder?

Canvas rolls are overrated. Just get a toolbox.

Wait, you're saying canvas rolls are "overrated"? That's wild. I've got a massive canvas roll I've been using for like eight years and it's still holding up better than any toolbox I've owned. Maybe you've just had bad luck with the cheap ones? I keep my #6 filbert, a couple flats, and my beat-up palette knife in mine and they stay put tight. You're telling me you can toss that toolbox in a truck bed without hearing everything rattle around and the paint tubes getting smashed? I'd love to hear what kind of toolbox you're using that handles watercolor pans without them sliding all over the place.

Olivia's got a point actually. A good toolbox with dividers and trays can hold way more than any canvas roll and keeps everything organized. Canvas rolls are fine for basic stuff but they just turn into a jumbled mess once you start adding different brushes and tools. Toolboxes are sturdier too, you can toss them in the back of a truck without worrying about paint tubes getting crushed. Roll them up all you want, but a toolbox wins for serious use every time.
