That $40 bread machine I bought off Facebook Marketplace was a total dud

I saw this bread machine listed for $40 and thought I was getting a steal. Picked it up from a guy in Oak Park who said it worked fine, but I guess I should have tested it there. First batch came out like a brick and the timer was totally broken, so I could never set it for morning bread. Ended up tossing it after two tries and just buying a $20 loaf from the bakery down the street instead. Has anyone else had luck with used kitchen gadgets, or am I just cursed?

Wait, you actually tossed a whole bread machine instead of just fixing the timer?

My Dad had one of those old bread machines that cost $150 back in the 90s. The timer broke after a year and he just threw the whole thing out instead of looking for a fix. @perry.jesse, sometimes its easier to toss it than hunt down a part that probably costs as much as a new one. I get it, even if it does seem wasteful.

Man, did you even check the reviews before you bought it?
