Yeah I was the same way, thought the pre-applied stuff was always enough. Built my old PC without adding any extra paste, just used the cooler's default blob. Temps were always kinda high and loud, hit like 88C under load. Seeing stories like Olivia's totally flipped my view, now I always add a fresh pea-sized drop. It's just not worth the risk for a five dollar tube.
