Packed soil from new builds is hurting trees way more than before

I've been in this line of work for years, and now I see it all the time. Construction crews drive heavy machines over root zones, and the soil gets like concrete. On my last job, three nice maples died because the ground was too hard after a house went in next door. People call me confused, asking why their trees look sick so soon after building. We have to tell clients to protect soil during construction, or trees will keep dying. I mean, idk, but this feels like a big shift in how we need to plan. Anyone else dealing with this in their area?

Flexibility can prevent more problems than it causes in long-term deals.

Why I think new freelancers should not cut their prices

Everyone says to lower your rates when you're starting out to get more work. I found that doing this made me tired and brought in clients who were hard to please. Shouldn't we ask for what we're worth from the beginning?

Call me old school, but my analog multimeter has never let me down.

Totally get this, and it's a bigger deal than just multimeters. I see it everywhere now, how digital readouts can hide the real story. Like with my car's dash, all the numbers say fine but you can FEEL when something's off. Analog tools force you to pay attention to the flow, not just a static number. Everyone chases new tech but sometimes the old way just connects you better to what's actually happening. Sticking with what works isn't crazy, it's smart when it gives you that deeper sense.

Exactly. Light pollution ruins everything. I spent years planning trips around dark sky maps only to have some guy with led string lights show up. Now I just hike until my phone dies and camp wherever looks decent. The milky way slapped last time I did that.

Ugh tell me about it, you ever try to turn a bolt with regular pliers instead of a wrench? Left my knuckles shredded and the bolt totally rounded off lol. Had that same walk of shame back to the hardware store.
