Finally got my kid to understand why saving beats begging for new games
He wanted a $60 game so bad but my budget said no. We drew a little chart and he saved his allowance for two months. His happy dance at the checkout was even better than the game.

Aw that's awesome, but @jennifer_campbell50 it hits different when it's their goal they're saving for, you know? The pride isn't really about the bike at the end, lol, it's from watching them stick with it for weeks. That's the part that really makes you proud, seeing that effort pay off.

Kids saving for bikes is cute until you realize they're probably spending your money anyway. All that pride might just be relief you didn't have to buy it yourself. Watching them stick with it? More like watching them nag you for extra chores. The real achievement is not losing your mind after the tenth 'are we there yet' about the bike fund.

Oh man, @dianabennett, we made a chart for chores and pay so the nagging turned into them checking the board instead of asking me.
