Shoutout to my old boss who told me to stop overcomplicating Gantt charts

My last manager Mike caught me building a 40-row Gantt chart for a 3-week content rollout. He straight up said "you're confusing activity with progress." Told me to strip it down to just milestones and dependencies. I tried it on our next campaign and suddenly the team actually looked at the timeline. Cut my update time from 20 minutes to 5 per day. Has anyone else had a boss call them out on a tool habit that was actually holding them back?

Ngl I read somewhere that like 60% of people with color-coded calendars end up ditching them within a month. Too much upkeep for most folks.
