I tried charging 30% more across the board and only lost 2 clients
I got tired of being the cheapest groomer in Denver so I just raised all my prices by 30% last March. Figured I'd lose half my regulars but I only had two people say they couldn't swing it. Turns out most folks didn't even blink at the new rates and I'm making $800 more a week for the same work. The clients who stayed actually treat me better and tip more now too. Anyone else try a big jump like that and get surprised by how little pushback you got?

Wait til those clients realize you were overcharging them the whole time and leave.

Wait, you mean I've been quietly resentful of my prices for years when I could have just added 30% and nobody would care? That's both freeing and mildly insulting to my past self. Guess I'll be testing this theory tomorrow and blaming you if it backfires.

So did the two clients who left give any specific reason for bailing, or was it just a straight "too expensive now" situation? I'm curious because sometimes people say it's the price but really it's something else (like they were looking for an excuse to switch groomers anyway). Did either of them try to haggle or ask for a discount, or did they just quietly ghost you?
