At the community tech fair, a robot waiter baptized my new sneakers with soda

I was watching a demo of these new serving robots (you know, the kind that carry trays). One mistook my shiny shoes for a target and veered right into me. It tipped over and soaked my feet in fizzy drink (which was cold and sticky, obviously). The team running it scrambled to clean up while I stood there dripping. Honestly, it was a pretty wild first look at how robots handle crowded spaces.

Did they give any reason why it locked onto your shoes? Like was it a sensor glitch or just bad programming?

What did they claim happened? @xena_king22 They always blame a sensor glitch first. My bet is it was bad code that got confused by the shoe's shape or color. Usually it's both cheap sensors and lazy programming. They cut corners everywhere and then act shocked when it fails.

Yeah, the "locked onto your shoes" thing happens. My old robot vacuum used to hate my sneakers and would push them around the house.
