The vacuum sealed blanket that took over my whole closet for 2 years

Last spring I bought one of those space saver vacuum bags for my winter comforter. I stuffed it in, sucked out the air, and shoved it on the top shelf of my closet. Fast forward to last week and I went to grab it, only to find the bag had a tiny hole and slowly filled back up over time. That comforter had expanded like a balloon and wedged itself so tight between the shelf and the wall I had to use a broom handle to pry it out. The whole closet smelled like stale air and dust for a day after. Has anyone else had a vacuum bag fail on them after a long stretch like that?

Roll your eyes all you want but honestly this sounds like a pretty minor problem. Like yeah stale air smell is gross but you act like the blanket grew legs and attacked you. Throw it in the wash and move on. @cora_west5 probably thinks you should start a funeral fund for blankets at this rate. I've had bags fail before and I just shrugged, stuffed it again, and went about my day. Not everything needs a dramatic story.

Grabbed my old vacuum bag last month thinking I was being SO smart with my storage, only to realize the thing had puffed up like a giant marshmallow and wedged itself between two boxes. Had to literally climb on a chair and wrestle it down like I was in some dumb action movie. The smell was AWFUL too, like opening a tomb of stale air and regret. Honestly I think my bag gave up on life faster than I give up on New Year's resolutions. Lesson learned: check those seals EVERY time or just accept your closet is a chaos zone.

Did you try burying it in the backyard like a dead pet, @smith.lee?
