Compared working from a houseboat to a library for a month
Spent two weeks freelancing from a friend's houseboat on Lake Union and then two weeks at the downtown Seattle library, and the library was way more productive. Has anyone else found that weird or quiet locations beat trendy spots every time?
Did you ever try putting a solid butcher block on top of two filing cabinets? That's what I did in my home office a few years back, cost me maybe $60 for the block and I already had the cabinets. Thing is rock solid, zero wobble even when I'm leaning on it hard, and I got tons of drawer space underneath for cables and supplies. Way better than those cheap pressboard desks that start sagging after a year.
