Saw a graphic designer post about 'the side hustle grind' and it made me cringe

This guy my friend follows shared this reel about waking up at 4am to fit in 3 client projects before his day job even started. He was bragging about running on 5 hours of sleep and protein bars. I get being hungry for work but that sounds like a fast track to hating everything you do. Why is that even a flex in 2025? Has anyone found a way to turn down that kind of 'hustle culture' without people acting like you're lazy?

Tbh I just read that people in Finland work way less hours and still get more done. Bragging about no sleep is just participation trophy behavior at this point.

Worked 60hrs a week for years and @drews55 is right, the 9-5 crowd actually got more done.

I used to be one of those people who thought the early morning grind was the only way to get ahead, but hearing you say participation trophy behavior actually hit hard. Now I realize burning yourself out just to prove you're working harder than others is kind of pointless when the results aren't even better. Have you noticed any real difference in the people who brag about sleep deprivation versus the ones who just work smart?
