Rant: Fixed a leaky pipe in 10 minutes after 3 days of wrong advice
Everyone online said to just tighten the fitting, but that made the drip worse. I finally called a local plumber in Dallas who said I needed a new O-ring, not more torque. Why does every forum skip the simple fix first?

Three days messing with a drip because some rando said tighten it. Next time take the fitting apart first and look at the rubber ring inside. If its flat or has a crack in it thats your problem right there. A new O-ring is like a dollar at any hardware store and takes two minutes to swap. I keep a little pack of assorted sizes in my toolbox for exactly this reason. People online love to guess but they dont have to live with your wet floor.

That first comment that said to tighten it probably had a stripped O-ring themselves and thought that fixed it. Sometimes the loudest advice online is from people who got lucky, not from actual knowledge.
