TIL my old way of fixing blurry photos is totally gone now

Back in 2018, I'd spend maybe an hour in Photoshop trying to sharpen a blurry picture from a party... it never looked right. Now, I just drop it into an AI tool and hit 'enhance'. The change happened around two years ago when those apps got really good. It fixes focus and even adds detail that wasn't there before. I still can't believe how fast it works. What's the weirdest thing you've fixed with an AI photo tool?

Wait, 2018? I swear those AI enhancers were still kinda trash back then. They got good way more recently, like last year maybe.

Honestly @grace_kelly45, you're right about them being trash back then. Tbh it feels like everything tech gets called "AI" way before it's actually useful. They slap the label on some basic filter and call it a day. I see this all the time now, not just with photos. It's like the word lost all meaning because companies use it for marketing on any little thing. Ngl it makes it hard to know when something is actually a big step forward or just the same old stuff with a new name.

Yeah, it really depends on the tool you picked. @grace_kelly45, I was using Topaz Labs' Gigapixel back then and it was okay for basic upscaling if you fed it a clean source file. The real jump for me was when they added the AI clear model, that's when old photos stopped looking like plastic.
