I was looking up old anime production notes and found out the original Sailor Moon had over 200 episodes planned but got cut to 200 exactly.

I found this fact in a 1995 interview with the director on an old fan site, and it made me wonder how many other shows had their episode counts changed last minute.

Remember reading about Dragon Ball Z having whole filler arcs because the anime caught up to the manga. Makes me feel better about my own last-minute changes, like that time I planned a big weekend and just ended up rewatching two episodes on the couch.

My last-minute plans usually end with ordering pizza and calling it a win.

The original Gundam series was famously cut from 52 episodes to 43. That sudden chop forced them to rewrite the entire final act in a rush, which is why the ending feels so different. It shows how a network decision can permanently change a story's whole feel.

Honestly that "permanent change" feels overblown, like @riley_gibson19's pizza plans are a tragedy.
