My friend in Dallas said I was wrong about 'slice of life' anime being boring

We were talking about shows like 'K-On!' and he told me, 'You're missing the point, it's not about big fights, it's about feeling like you're hanging out with friends.' That hit different because I've been pretty lonely since moving. Has anyone else had a show grow on them after a friend explained it?

Your friend in Dallas just gave you the best review of slice of life I've ever heard. I used to think the same way, that nothing happens in those shows. Then I watched 'Yuru Camp' during a really rough winter where I barely left my apartment. Watching those girls just make food and sit by a fire, it felt like I was there with them. It's not boring, it's comfort food for your brain when real life is kind of empty. What other shows did he say you should try?

He mentioned "Flying Witch" as another good one, where the magic is just part of everyday life. It's all about a girl moving to the country and learning little spells, like making a lemon taste sweet. There's no big villain or world ending plot, just a nice vibe. He also talked about "Barakamon," which is about a grumpy city guy finding peace in a small village. The appeal is totally in the quiet moments, like you said. It's about filling in those empty spaces with something warm.

It’s like getting a hug from a show.
