Struggling to choose between subbed and dubbed anime for my watch sessions.

I value the original performances in subs, but dubs let me follow along while fixing engines, so which side are you on?

Saw an article about how some modern dubs actually change lines to fit mouth flaps better, losing the original meaning. Sticks with subs for that reason, even if it means just listening during chores. Your engine fixing is a strong case for dubs though, can't read a screen with greasy hands.

Exactly. Everything's getting smoothed over these days.

Eh, I've seen some dubs that actually tighten up the dialogue. Sometimes the direct translation is clunky and a good rewrite keeps the spirit while making it flow better.

For greasy hands, a good dub beats missing the action entirely.
