After a dishwasher fire last Tuesday I changed how I check every connection

I was at a rental property in Columbus doing a routine install and the supply line fitting gave way after 15 minutes, water spraying everywhere. The homeowner's kid was standing right there and could've gotten hurt bad. Has anyone here started using those braided stainless hoses with built-in shutoffs for dishwashers?

Did you find a melted wire harness in that unit or just wet insulation?

Honestly that's the real question right there, isn't it? I've seen both scenarios play out and they're totally different problems even though the end result looks the same. A melted harness usually means something pulled too many amps or a relay welded itself shut, but wet insulation is just a water ingress issue that might dry out and work fine. So which one did you actually find when you pulled the cover off? Because one of those requires replacing the entire harness and the other might just need a good cleaning and dielectric grease. I'm genuinely curious because that changes how serious the whole repair is.

Agreed with @kim_mason55, I used to skip the expensive hoses but not anymore after seeing this.
