Found a hidden bypass on a Frigidaire ice maker
Had a unit where the ice maker wouldn't cycle even after replacing the module. Turns out there's a test port under the cover that bypasses the thermostat. Saved me an hour of troubleshooting on a warranty call yesterday. Anyone else use those factory test ports?

I read somewhere that those test ports were originally put in for factory QA but then the repair guys found out about them and now they're just this open secret in the service community. Kinda like how some Samsung fridges have that hidden diagnostic mode if you press the right button combo. Makes you wonder why they don't just put it in the manual, right?

Oh man, I wish I'd known about that test port last week when I spent 20 minutes staring at a Frigidaire like it personally offended me lol. Ended up doing the whole "unplug it, pray, plug it back in" dance before I gave up and called it a day. I love those hidden factory shortcuts though - makes me feel like I'm hacking into the Matrix but really I'm just avoiding a headache. Definitely gonna bookmark this for the next time one of those finicky ice makers acts up.
