A client in Tacoma told me my stump grinding was too shallow
Honestly, I was just doing what I always did, grinding about 4 inches down for a basic lawn replant. This guy stopped me and said, 'You're leaving a tombstone for the next guy.' He showed me where an old maple stump he didn't fully remove 8 years ago was still causing his mower to bounce. Tbh, it clicked. Now I go a solid 8-10 inches minimum unless the specs say otherwise. It takes longer and uses more teeth, but it's right. Anyone else get called out on a habit they didn't even know was a problem?

Had a landscaper point out my lazy edging job once. Felt like a total rookie but it fixed my whole process.

Man, @matthew_patel68 that's so true. I never realized how much a bad edge makes the whole lawn look messy, even if the grass is cut perfect. It's like framing a picture with a busted-up piece of wood.

Used to just run the mower over the edge and call it good. A neighbor finally showed me how to actually cut a clean line with a half-moon tool. Makes such a huge difference in how the whole yard looks. Kind of embarrassing how long I went without knowing that basic step.
