Had to choose between a new climbing saw or a full set of rigging gear for the truck.
I went with the rigging gear and it saved a whole day on a big oak removal in Tucson last month, but man, my arms still remember that climb with the old saw. Anyone else ever had to make a gear call that paid off way later?

Tucson oaks are no joke, especially with an old saw. But a whole day saved is huge. I guess the real question is how many climbs like that you actually do in a year to justify a new saw.

Man, I have to disagree... it's not just about the number of climbs. A bad tool makes every single job harder and more dangerous, even the small ones. Waiting for it to finally die on you is how people get hurt. Saving a whole day once is proof enough for me that the old saw is holding you back. That's time and stress you never get back.

Honestly, the safety upgrade alone could be worth it, idk.
