TIL the difference between asking 'what's the best way to do X' and 'I tried A and B for X, why did B fail?' is huge.

Oh man, that "I tried A and B" question is the golden ticket! It shows you actually put in the work and got your hands dirty, not just fishing for someone else to do all the thinking. The first question is like asking someone to build you a whole treehouse from scratch. The second one is like saying "hey, I built the platform but my ladder keeps wobbling, can you spot the loose nail?" Huge, huge difference.

So when someone asks the "I tried A and B" question, @grace_kelly45, are they mostly getting better answers because it's easier to help, or because people just respect the effort more?

Yeah @sethm58, the "golden ticket" is just showing you didn't ask your mom to do your homework for you.
