Had to pick between a paper planner and a digital calendar for tracking networking contacts

I went with a paper moleskine 3 years ago because I got tired of app notifications distracting me during meetups. Now I have 3 full books of notes but I cant search them worth a damn. Anyone else regret going analog?

Wait up though - you said you cant search them, but you probably havent tried the photo search method yet. I used to think the same thing until I realized I could just snap a pic of each page with my phone and then search the photos by date or keyword. It takes like 30 seconds to snap a batch of pages and now you've got both the physical feel and digital searchability. The real issue is that Moleskine paper is actually pretty thin and bleeds through if you use anything but ballpoint pens. So maybe grab a better notebook next time that wont let your networking notes turn into a messy blur.

@the_hayden it's funny how everything in life has those hidden tradeoffs right? Paper notebooks feel great but the bleeding thing is just one of those little annoyances nobody warns you about until you're stuck with a mess.
