Can we talk about how urethane primer beat epoxy primer on this messed up Chevy fender
Had a 2015 Silverado come in to my shop in Denver with a fender that was half bare metal and half old paint, and I shot epoxy on one side and urethane on the other just to see what happened. The epoxy side ended up with a rough texture and needed way more sanding at 180 grit, while the urethane laid flat and blocked out clean in about half the time. Is anyone else finding urethane holds up fine on bare metal, or am I asking for trouble down the road?
Wait, you sprayed two different primers on the same fender just to test it? That takes some guts to do on a paying customer's truck. The rough texture on the epoxy side is strange though, since epoxy usually lays down smoother than that when it's mixed right. Maybe your urethane soaked into the bare metal better and gave you a head start on the sanding.
