My uncle who ran a body shop for 30 years told me to always use flexible primer on plastic bumpers, and I called him old school until I had a 2022 Camry come back with the paint cracking 3 months later.

He said it would adhere better with the bumper flexing and I went with a standard high-build primer instead, so now I'm sanding it down and redoing the whole job, anyone else ever ignore old timer advice and pay for it?

Honest question though, did you use a proper adhesion promoter before the high-build primer on that Camry bumper? Some of those new plastic blends from Toyota are a nightmare for paint sticking if you skip that step, even with the right primer. I've seen guys get away with skipping the flex additive on older cars but those 22+ bumpers just seem to reject anything that's not specifically designed for them.
