Shoutout to the rookie who clear coated his own truck bed with a roller in Lubbock
He got orange peel so bad it looked like a golf ball and asked me if wet sanding would fix it, and I had to walk to the back of the shop to keep a straight face. What's the worst DIY paint job you've seen roll into your bay?
Wet sanding will knock down the orange peel but a roller job usually leaves too thin and uneven a coat to save. You would sand through to primer in the low spots before the texture ever came out, and the finish still would not look right.
Keep in mind the guy probably used a foam roller and a can of hardware store clear, which is not the same stuff a gun lays down. Best he can do is scuff it, spray a real coat over it, and call the roller job a learning experience.
