Had a client demand a full refund because my edits changed their meaning

Oh wow, that sounds exhausting. I think what a lot of people miss is that editing for grants is almost like translation work, but nobody admits it. You're translating from the client's emotional language into a committee's business language. The director probably thought passion meant flowery sentences and emotional appeals, but grant reviewers want clear, simple statements about impact and budget. I've seen nonprofits lose funding because they sounded too desperate or too vague. You did the right thing by offering the line by line walkthrough, that's usually the only way to prove you didn't change the heart of things. Next time maybe ask for a sample of a grant they already got funded, so you can match that tone exactly.

Found out a 747 tire holds 200 PSI, blew my mind at the hangar

Saw a 737 tire blow on the tarmac once, sounded like a bomb going off.

Why do people keep skipping home inspections on flips?

Yeah that "new paint is just covering up water damage" part hits so hard lol. @kellyallen I've seen it happen way too many times where someone skips the inspection because they're in a hurry or trying to save like $400. Then six months later they're pulling up carpet and finding black mold or realizing the electrical is all knob and tube behind those fresh outlet covers. I swear flippers bank on people being impatient or cheap. A proper inspector would catch that the plumbing is corroded or the roof has three layers of shingles, but nobody wants to hear it until water is dripping on their head.

Heard someone at the library say AI is just 'fancy autocomplete' and it got me thinking...

Eh, maybe it's just overhyped word math.

Burned my third batch of cookies until I found the oven rack trick

Oh man, the "babysitting them" part is too real. I feel that. I do rotate the pan halfway through, and it helps a little but not totally. My oven is a GE and I swear the bottom element just has a mind of its own. I actually burned the bottoms on a batch of cookies so bad last week the smoke alarm went off. That was fun. I tried putting a baking sheet on the rack below to deflect some heat, which has worked okay for muffins but not for cookies. Honestly I think these small electric ovens are just cursed.
