Swapped my old flood lights for LED strips inside the booth, huge difference in match quality

I used to paint with those big fluorescent fixtures buzzing overhead and always had to walk out to the sun to check my metallic blends, which ate up so much time. Last month I put in six LED strip lights along the walls of my booth in Tacoma and now I can see the flop clearly without moving the car. Has anyone else made this switch and found they had to re-learn their mixing ratios because the light shows everything?

Man, thats the exact rabbit hole I fell into when I switched to LED strips last spring. I thought I knew my mixes cold, but the first few jobs came out looking completely different under that even light. Did you end up having to adjust your clear coat thickness too, or was it mainly the base color flop that threw you off? I found myself adding way more metallic flake than I used to just to get the same pop, and the pearlescent shades are a whole different beast now. How long did it take before you trusted what you were seeing in the booth again?

Yeah the clear coat was actually the bigger headache than the flop, it laid down way too flat and killed the depth. Did you switch your booth lighting to match the sun angle too, or just accept the LED look as the new normal?
