A power surge wiped out a flight control module I was testing since I forgot to hook up the isolator.

You forgot to hook up the isolator? How do you even forget that?

Read somewhere that isolator hookups are a common skip. People get focused on the big parts and just forget the final connections. Always good to have a second pair of eyes.

My buddy Dave once spent all day on a build, got everything perfect, but totally blanked on the isolator. He was so proud until he tried to fire it up and nothing worked. @rayc94 is spot on about needing a second pair of eyes. Dave's mistake cost him half a day to redo the connections. Now he always double-checks those final hooks before calling it done.

Yeah, it happens way more than you'd think, @kimblack. When you're deep in the wiring, your brain just checks that box sometimes. I started using a physical checklist taped to my bench for the final power-up steps, isolator is the first thing on it. Saved my gear more than once after a long day when I was tired.
